CERTIFICATE OF THEOLOGY

The Certificate of Theology (minimum 40 credits) provides the graduate with the foundation necessary to function as a ministry group leader within church and/or para-church contexts. Students in this program develop their Bible knowledge, ministry skills, spiritual maturity, and personal characteristics.

Program

The student will complete a minimum of 40 credits of courses selected from the four divisions of the curriculum.  Select courses also include Practical Ministry Experience opportunities for credit through which students experience direct application of knowledge and theory to a relevant ministry situation, thus developing and strengthening their ministry skills and giftings.

Students may choose among the available Bachelor of Theology courses.  The table below provides a recommended academic plan, ensuring the student a good balance of courses from the four divisions of PTEE’s curriculum.

DIPLOMA OF THEOLOGY

The Diploma of Theology (minimum 80 credits) will strengthen the graduate’s ability to function as a leader who is able to assist church and/or para-church leaders in the fulfillment of ministry objectives, or when appropriate, lead small churches.

The Diploma courses, combined with growing personal ministry, will help adult students develop their Bible knowledge, ministry skills, spiritual maturity, and personal formation and impact for effective Christian service.

The student will complete a minimum of 80 credits of courses selected from the four divisions of the curriculum.  Select courses also include Practical Ministry Experience opportunities for credit through which students experience direct application of knowledge and theory to a relevant ministry situation, thus developing and strengthening their ministry skills and giftings.

While students who have previously completed a Certificate of Theology are eligible to have all their previous course-credits applied toward the Diploma of Theology, repeating Certificate courses for additional credit is not permissible

BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY

The Bachelor of Theology (minimum 120 credits) will prepare students to work as a church or para-church leader. As a senior pastor or pastoral staff member, the graduate will be able to engage with the needs of church members who are primary, secondary and tertiary school graduates. In preparation for such a role, B.Th students will continue to develop spiritually, Biblically, in ministry skills and sense of community and church identity and responsibility.

The student will complete a minimum of 120 credits of courses selected from the four divisions of the curriculum. Select courses also include Practical Ministry Experience opportunities for credit through which students experience direct application of knowledge and theory to a relevant ministry situation, thus developing and strengthening their ministry skills and giftings.

~ A student who already holds a Bachelor’s degree in another field will only be required to take 54 credits to complete a B.Th.

~ Students who have already earned a PTEE Diploma of Theology must complete an additional 40 credits to complete a B.Th.

~ Students holding a Diploma of Theology from another institution may apply to have their Diploma courses credited towards the Bachelor of Theology. Each case will be considered on its own merits and up to 80 credits may be transferred.
